Default Oil leak

Hello All,

On my way back from BSB on Sunday on my 650s K2 i noticed smoke bellowing out from behind, after pulling over i realised i had an oil leak and the smoke was due to burning oil on the exhaust, there was no loss in power and once i got home i cleaned it up and cant figure out where leak is coming from. Both pots are clean (with no leaks what i can see)but entire back of bike was covered in oil (under tray, back brakes and tire) has anybody got any ideas how i can get to the bottom of this.

Many thanks.

was it the rear shock gone?

If not wipe down engine, cover in talcum powder and look for a leak.

A shiny English pound says one or both the crank case breather hoses have come off the crank case. They should run up to the left side of the airbox. When they come off the gearbox part of the crankcase the cogs spray oil everywhere.

Cheap if slightly fiddly fix

I can certainly verify that not connecting the breather hoses makes one hell of a mess!

Just a general question and a bit of concern; how much engine oil has been lost? Remember to top up.

Let us know if you find anything wrong. Check things like the clutch cover (although this sort of weeps rather than bellowing out oil)

Another possibility is the front sprocket nut has loosened.
