New Bike
I'm thinking about getting myself a different bike. The Street is amazing and I love her but she is getting a little bit old and is starting to show her age.
I honestly don't know where I want to go next, but 1000cc IL4 sports bikes will not even be contemplated as in my mind they are useless on the public road, I stopped riding a sports 600 because I was riding WAY too fast (not that it wasn't fun) The gaffer has told me that if I do look at getting something different I've to put less precedent on pillion provision. Things I'd like; Handling - something equal to the Street if not better. Decent tank range - 100 miles to reserve is not enough. Decent comfort - I'd like to be able to ride the whole day without breaking myself Things I don't care for; Top speed - when am I ever really going to use it High seat heights - I'm a shorty I'm really quite stuck, and as ever my heart says go pay way too much an Aprilia RS250 mk2, even though my head says don't be a nugget. So on you go give me some ideas.

Re: New Bike
I like the Tracer but it was too big and heavy for me. I'd need your lowering kit Lance to be comfortable on it, I don't like the standard MT09 its ugly in my mind.

Re: New Bike
who cares about looks. lets face it if people were to buy the SV on looks they would not sell any.. lol
its a hard one chucca, i have searched for a new bike but the only thing that appeals to me is the stripple r and the mt-09. i want a new bike but i'm loathed to let go of the SV as it fits, add in the 60mpg and its a hard choice. like me your vertically challenged but not as bad so you dont have to lower too much. Thruxton R? the new stripple r is out the box good. the MT-09 needs suspension work but the price difference will make up for it easily. the new MT-09 has ABS and traction control with a revised map on the throttle, with an ECU flash its supposed to be even better. |

Re: New Bike
what about the xsr 900 version if the MT09?
The silver one looks very nice in the flesh. Customisable and the fuelling and suspension is reportedly better than the 09. |

Re: New Bike
Hmm, there's food for thought Mr Smith, I looked at a CB1000R a few years ago. Might have a look at a big nekid bike...

Re: New Bike
How about XSR700 (sv-ish middleweight with retro looks) or XSR900 (fast version). I had a test ride on the XSR700 and it felt a bit wanting compared to my Street Triple. The 900 is reckoned to be a great bike.
Or Triumph Street Twin (if you don't need to go too fast) or T120? At the very least, it's an excuse to test ride lots of different bikes |
