Default Bump start

Hello all, I posted some threads regarding my battery being flat not too long ago. I want to get a move on and charge it. I think the alarm will be an absolute pain, so my question is, could someone go through step by step of how to bump start my SV? I tried already but no luck, I'm just making sure that I did it right. Cheers.

Turn ignition on, side stand up, hold clutch in and engage first (possibly second as in that vid, guess its just trial and error?), keep the clutch held in, F*cking leg it! LEG IT! ...slowly let the clutch out as your legging it and keep pushing as you feel it pushing back at you....hopefully the engine starts! Jump on like a mad man and riiiide away!
If first is a struggle, i guess try second :S
Only had to do this once
Good luck!

Cheers CB5 KEITH. Big help, I was half way their but I ran out of puff! I shall LEG IT as hard as possible! Say I do get it started and leave it running, will the battery be able to then start the bike normally?

Get it running, and go ride it for an hour or something; if you can keep the lights off, keep the lights off. The battery should pick up some charge from the alternator

Happy bumping

Yeah right, I'ld like to see somebody start a V twin like that! Battery charger would be the way to go

Yeah, they probably do these videos with a bike that already starts easy, imagine doing that on an SV with a crap battery.

Hard to bump-start a cold bike too. My dad bumped my bike for me in the summer, after a long ride (the reg/rec had failed and the battery drained) and it fired up right away

(down a hill, rolling, second gear - up on the pegs, then drop down on the seat as the clutch is dropped, bike fired up right away)
