Re: Mallory Park - 28th November
I'll finally need new tyres after the day 4000 miles and the BT021's will at last be dead.

Re: Mallory Park - 28th November
By happenstance, there's a load of SV sized race scrubs on Ebay at the mo.

Re: Mallory Park - 28th November
I know at least all pirelli tyres don't actually need "scrubbing in". I've ran on brand new tyres (granted I use warmers) with no problem at all. Scrubbing in used to be cleaning off the release agents they used to get the tyre out of the mould, but I know at least pirelli don't use them anymore.
I'll be using some near fresh supercorsas on my dry bike (hoping!) failing that I've got some Dunlop inters on the wet bike. |

Re: Mallory Park - 28th November
I've got a Bridgestone B020 on the front at the moment which is a bit old and very low on tread. I'm gonna upgrade the SV in the new year so don't fancy buying a new replacement but would rather have something better for the 28th. If anyone see's a suitable part worn (that'll work with the BT021 rear) please let me know

Re: Mallory Park - 28th November
Near new Avon Storms on mine. Only covered about 250miles since I had them fitted about 3 weeks ago. Old tyres were pretty shagged and had wear blocks showing in the middle.

Re: Mallory Park - 28th November
Mine have a fair bit of life in them, just worry about taking a half shagged tyre on the track.

Re: Mallory Park - 28th November
Dave, You could take a look on motoforum http://www.motoforum.net as there are a fair few minitwin racers on there. Maybe ask about some part worns? I wouldnt worry about putting fresh rubber on though, After the first session you will have scrubbed them in enough.

Re: Mallory Park - 28th November
Cheers wester, they won't even be fresh I should have done a good 100 miles or so on them atleast. Only problem with getting part worns is it's weather dependant and the additional tyre changing costs might be false economy.

Re: Mallory Park - 28th November
After this weekend I never want to change wheels again! Dependant on what tyres you put on you should be okay even if it is a bit wet. I'm lucky enough to have not needed to ride in the wet at all yet but my guess is the pace will slow drastically especially in the novice group. I'm lucky enough to have a set of full wets aswell but I doubt very much I will be using them to their full potential!
