Default Chain & Sprockets!!!

i boughta chain and sprocket set from a local bike shop, for a sv650.

so he handed it to me and i asked him, if it was for the s or naked(like mine) he said he thought they were all the same,
no they are diffferent

its a 44 tooth rear on the s
and a 45 tooth rear on the naked, not much difference but thats not the point, i wanted my bike the same as it was before the new set,

so i counted the teeth (wrongly i counted 45 it was 44 .. i was rushed!!)

so i ended up with a 44 not a 45! D'oh!! the box said SV650 K3+ Not SV650S K3+ so the dealer sold me the wrong size &!!! there was no link in it!

i am going to buy it off ebay next time (its cheaper!!)

That set will raise your gearing very slightly. The SV chain does not have a split link in it,so you will need to get it riveted. No modern big bikes use split links cos they are not deemed strong enough.

Split link chains are available fro the SV but they're rare. Should really only be used as a temporary fix until you can get it to a dealer/tyre place and have it riveted.

Oh and stick a 46 tooth sprocket on and have more fun

i want to put on a 47.

i have been assured my the head of merton college nvq courses(no.1 for motorcycle mechaincs) who owns a 750, drives from southhampton to wimbleson everyday, that it will be fine, i fitted it at college because i was not 100% sure what tools i would need! but i will do it at home next time.

how much do dealers charge for fitting a chain and sprocket set?? because it took about 4 hours (i was learning how to do it) but i could probally do it in 1 1/2 to 2 hours next time
