Default Kawasaki H1F ignition

I've been trying to figure out how the H1F ignition uses 2 pickups to fire 3 cylinders without a wasted spark. I now know the second part but still don't how it gets away with only 2 pick ups (which are connected together).

One coil of the alternator is dedicated to powering the ignition so when you kick the bike it provides power to charge the capacitor in the CDI. When the rotor passes a pickup it triggers the coils but only the grounded coil fires. There's a 3 segment slip ring on the alternator rotor with one segment corresponding to each coil, all three segments can be grounded when the segment is under a brush, so when the appropriate segment is aligned with the appropriate coil and the CDI receives the ignition pulse the appropriate coil fires; A low voltage distributor. It means that it uses slip rings and brushes (5 of them) and it will run without a battery (but it's not recommended).
Each model year has used a slightly different ignition - some used points and a high voltage distributor (H1), some used CDI and a HV distributor (H1A/B), some used 3 pick ups/3 coils (H1D) and the H1F/KH500 use the above system. No idea about the H1E. It makes finding ignition parts difficult.

Bloody hell, that's unnecessarily complex. Much as it's a shame that Suzuki never properly developed the 380 triple motor, it did make sourcing parts very easy.
