Trust me there is nothing secluded in Dumps but would suggest somewhere a little further west for better roads but there are suitable roads depends on how far you want to travel or what you want to see, Oban is only just over 100 miles away, Braemar only 70 odd.

I'd second that Dunfermline is an ok place but I wouldn't say that Fife is the best place for biking roads. Sorry Lance.

i totally agree fife is sheeeet roads (superb tar though) and dunfermline is a dump like most large fife coastal towns. nice people but depressing places.

if you want a mini (taster) scotland go to d&g or head north for the real thing.

Thanks for all your replies guys - I appreciate it! I will certainly check out the ones you've suggested but like most of you said I think we better of heading a bit further up and experience the full thing instead of just staying South!

As long as there's a hot-tub and nice roads... I'M THERE!

Giggity.

Worth riding up for a few laps, even if you come straight back after!

Try Pinetrees Tyndrum, next to the Greenwelly , the famous biking centre of Scotland. Loads of terrific roads and places to go from there and all in an easy days ride.
Look on the website, the place is spotless with biker huts and Lodges,I honestly have never come across or stayed at a better campsite.
I appreciate that it is a little further than you were initially looking but it is 100% worth the extra hours ride, better scenery, less traffic and some of the best rides in Scotland are all on your doorstep.
I spent a week there at the end of May. Pub[Hotel] serves decent meals at a reasonable price,Fish, burger and pizza next door,Greenwelly meals are reasonable and this is all within 300yds walk of the campsite.
