Getting Married
Is about the time this happened, but ain't got a lot of cash.
Don't want registry or the like. Has anyone any experiences that don't cost a fortune that they might suggest? Open to ideas, as i have NO idea on this lol |

Re: Getting Married
Let the woman do it.
Just hand over an empty credit card. |

Re: Getting Married
whisk her off to Vegas for a long weekend.
Get loads of photos taken - distribute those to your families in an email. Job done. Next question. |

Getting married? Whatever for! Very Victorian in my mind.

Re: Getting Married
mid range cost - between £9 and £15,000 i reckon
get married on a friday, its cheaper. get married in a manor house or similar, have the whole function there, wedding, reception and evening do. rent rather than buy the outfits, unless you have a smart suit you're happy to get married in |

Re: Getting Married
Look around for unusual venues that people might not have thought about. I got married at Legoland (first wedding there) and as they were new to the game we got it at a lower price. They nearly doubled the prices once they realised what they COULD charge people.
Also, get married during the week as most places charge less for a Friday wedding for example. And thats not just the venue, its the florist, the registrar... Also keep an eye on the costs of the little things as they soon add up. We got all the bridesmaids and the men in the wedding party to pay for their own outfits. A bit tight but we'd just bought our first house and there was a lot of pressure to have this bridesmaid or that bridesmaid so this sorted it out. Saved hundreds of pounds that way. For a honeymoon, speak to the travel agent who can then set up an account for your guests to pay into to pay for the honeymoon rather than give you a gift. This saves more money. You can also use these credit cards that give you cash back, so as long as you pay off the balance every month you will get money for free (basically). And as a wedding will cost a good few grand that will give you a good amount of cash back for nothing. HTH |

Re: Getting Married
We got married at the church across the road - one of them 'united reformed' types. Had the evening do at the Grecian Taverna (Plymouth people will know where that is) - which was ideal because you all get fed on whatever your budget is and there was a free disco thrown in, because there's one there every night - bargin!!
We didn't buy loads of flowers, we got hold of some reasonable wine for drinkies at our house, there were no limo's or anything else. Just so long as people know where to go and what's happening, they'll be happy with anything...more or less. It's a party - for them it's free except transport and accom. No gimmicks, no frills - you've got each other. Have the ceremony - have a party. Get a relative/friend to do the photo's. Sorted.
