The boatman does it again....
So as promised, here is a quick report into todays accident.. Having put a new tyre on last night and gone for a quick ride at midnight to scrub the tyre in, I went to pick up my new pillion *read as never been on a bike before* before going to meet punnyxpress at hawes, the plan was to leave lancaster, via the bridge and sedburgh, before having a quick lunch, before heading back to Lancaster, after all, my pillion had an exam at 3pm.
So off we went, being careful to avoid the new road surfaces between lancaster and the bridge, we went via Gressingham. After a few twisties, I opened the throttle, to be somewhat surprised by the back wheel locking up dead! Not ideal when you are making very good progress on to a long straight. The 200m skid shown in the picture above gives you some idea! My pillion commented afterwards that it felt very strange leaning back up the road the way we had come, but new that you were supposed to steer in to skids! So after a quick ring to the Green flag, to say that the rear wheel appeared to be running and it was making a funny noise, I got recovered home. Deciding I had probably put her off, I asked my pillion if she wanted to go home on the 125 or the van, she told me the bike was fine! So after a quick detour to pudding house, ice cream after all, saves the day, I got her back in time for the exam. Me things she has a larger set of balls than me! Once home I stripped the bike down and found the affending item, seen below: If any one has one of these spare, or can tell me the name, that would be great, then I can get a new one! I think its needed! I just hope I am not making a habit of heading home for the spare bike, twice in 3 days is a little much! Just remember guys, shiny side up.... |

Wow. Good work staying on. It appears from that picture your shock linkage has disintegrated.

Re: The boatman does it again....
My theory... bearing has gone, eventually worn through outer bearing... worn into ally and weakened it until it's pinged apart.

Falling off is optional! Stubbornness is mandatory!
