Shock spring replacement...

Replacing the spring on the rear shock.

Anyone done it? Any specialist tools needed?

Demon Tweeks do a Hyperpro front and rear kit:

Front springs, and oil, and a spring for the rear shock. £168

Or, as just sold on ebay, a brand new, (apparently) GSXR k5 shock went for £23.00. Hyperpro prog sripngs £90, good savings and a better shock into the bargain.
Having said that, never replaced the rear spring, just the shock, so not much help, sorry!

K5 shock go in without any modding though?

Not in a curvy, it's too long ISTR.

You want to search on the forum for 2004 ZX636/ZX6RR shock (or something like that) as thats the baby that fits with a wee bit jiggery-pokery under the battery box. It's what i put on, and plenty others here too. It's not as perfect as an ohlins, but a big improvement over an old stock SV one.

Mind you, did i not see on another thread that you are a bit of a portly gnome? Maybe the ZX10R one suits your needs better.

To change the spring you need a spring compressor. If your in Oxon, PDQ have one of these.

PDQ's a bloody fair trek as well, as I'm right up the most northern point of Oxon.
