where to buy a restricted ECU?
Hello guys, as I'm considering an SV very soon (pointy) from a member on here (seeing it saturday!) I wonder where would I get the restricted ECU from?

Its a pointy ecu, just plug and play, However, i think for insurance verification you have to get a dealer to approve / fit the restrictor.
I have no idea what it is worth, I'll get back to you after work!? |

You have to have a certificate to show to the insurance company as proof that a restrictor kit has been fitted by an authorised dealer, quite a few places insist that they provide the restricted ECU as well.

All that is required (and no insurance company I've been with ever wanted proof) is documentation to prove the bike's under the 33BHP limit. If the dealer wants to charge you a ton of cash a dyno printout is fine, as neither that or the certificate proves the bike is restricted at any given time, just that is has been restricted. Swapping the ECUs over is simply an unplug / plug opration. If you're having a dealer do it make sure you get the full power ECU back too.
