ignition advancer
Hi all, raced at Silverstone at weekend with bemsee , done reasonably well with power limitation, its only showing 62bhp on the dyno.
was thinking about fitting an ignition advancer before Brands, has anyone else tried this or are there any other cheapish ways of boosting the power ? cheers, Stevo rookie minitwin 67 |

Re: ignition advancer
Slot the pickup holes if you want to advance it.
But I don't think that will give you any power. What other mods to bike?

Re: ignition advancer
Has the fueling been setup properly?. If not then its well worth some time on a dyno. You can use the standard needles and then loose jets to jet the bike rather than a dynojet kit.
Failing that injected cams are a worthy investment. Every set we have fitted and then setup have pulled the carbed bikes upto where the injected bikes are power and torque wise. |

Re: ignition advancer
Is the Dynojet kit not that good on the SV, would it explain my top end misfire?
Thanks for any info Cheers AJ |

Re: ignition advancer
Nothing wrong with them at all BUT you need to ensure they are fitted in conjunction with runs on a dyno. If you fit the kit as they recommend then you could be way off. Also they work out more costly jetting with the kit than it does with loose jets.

Re: ignition advancer
Looks like I need to book some dyno time with you for my carbed bike if possible, I did fit the kit to the recommended settings. I am based near Worthing so getting the bike up to is not really a problem, do you do Saturdays?
Thanks for the advice AJ |

Re: ignition advancer
Yup we do Saturdays but we are booking now from Saturday 10th July for a Saturday dyno with Steve. Weekdays are a little easier diary wise. Worthing is only about 40mins on a clear run. Can do while you wait if needs be too.

Re: ignition advancer
Ok, thanks, no panic, my last race of the year will be at Brands in July on my injected bike so no panic at the moment, i will give you a call sometime soon after to get it set up on the dyno.
