If only they could all move past excel and use proper BPM tools...

I'd be out of a job and I'm too old/lazy to change tack now! Thankfully there are plenty of mid size companies that cannot afford to move up in terms of system capabilities just yet so I can see Excel being their first choice for management reporting for some time yet.

Yeah, excel has a place, for low cost quick solutions to short term issues. Maybe my post should be in gripes, just the amount of dodgy workarounds done by departments instead of using the proper tools available makes my job a lot harder sometimes. It encourages adhoc business processes that don't fit within the business as a whole, atleast in terms of process and systems architecture.....and I'm still not in a new role yet...

how did we survive before the computer

to err is human but to completely fek things up requires a computer and an idiot at the keyboard.

Computers have de-skilled the human race by gathering information on computers rather than in the human mind. Computers have allowed big business to take over the world, Amazon makes huge profits in pretty much every country in the world and pays tax in non of them, Uber is the worlds largest taxi company but owns no taxis etc. etc.

When you see some of the basic things that people search internet for answers it makes you wonder what happened to a good basic education as well. When you hear kids say things like 'why do I need to go to school when I know how to use Google and I can find everything on there ? '

This was always the case. But now they have the internet so they can try to educate themselves. Hence it's visible.

What really gets me is reasonably intelligent youngsters who need to know something but can't be bothered to spend 10 seconds looking it up, so they kind of self impose ignorance through laziness. I really don't get it.

I used to dream of a hand-held portable comms device as a kid. Would have saved the bus fares to the library.

Should do with carbs, but fuel injection cuts the flow which would be counter-productive!
When I worked in London 56 years ago used to go through Blackwall Tunnel and unleash a few from my Lambretta at lunch time. Great sport!
