Ponderosa Cafe, Saturday 11 June @ 11am
Short notice, anybody playing out? I need to scrub a new set of tyres in.
Going to meet Dave (sv4me) at 11am but don't let that put you off! 11.30am leaving time. Not sure on mileage or even a route... possibly something like this? {A} Ponderosa. {B} Texaco, Ruthin. Fuel. {C} Tree Top Adventure. Never been before but Mike (Luckypants) recommended the cafe for cake! {D} Glaslyn Ices & Glandwr Cafe. Ice Cream. Need I say more? {E} Back to the Ponderosa via Bala. But that's only an idea, may decide on something completely different in the morning. Last edited by christopher; 10-06-11 at 10:02 PM. |

Just got in. Made the route up as we went. Excellent days riding apart from a **** in an Octavia VRS spoiling one of the favourite roads. Ah well. Other than that it was a good run, decent pace including a rather airborne moment from me, oops!

She'd have done well to still be on the back after Chris' flying lesson was quite spectacular to watch! Yeah who would have thought after getting caught in the pi$$in rain on the way there this morning and then getting pelted with hailstones right after leaving the ponderosa we could get such good riding in in the afternoon
Few shocking quality pics off my iphone, apologies for the fugly pointy in some of them http://i1132.photobucket.com/albums/...Picture125.jpg http://i1132.photobucket.com/albums/...Picture126.jpg

Not sure what speed I ended up taking it at as I had eased a little and it doesn't look like much on Streetview. Was getting in the swing of the new tyres (which so far are brilliant) and they only had about 60 miles on them at that point and it was a little silly as had brief hailstones (which hurt!) 5 minutes earlier, though the roads weren't too damp. All good fun though And really glad we thought "sod it let's carry on, out now" after the rain/hailstones, was really tempted to say I can't be bothered with this and head home - much like Dave must have thought when getting drenched coming down the M53. But it ended up nice and had some great roads (with not much traffic) to play on. Very enjoyable. Will sort a little something out for next weekend if people are available and the weather looks alright on the day. |
