Default Rip off cost of service.

Can you belive Suzuki want £170 to change the engine oil and stamp the service book.

What is wrong with these people?

Is there anywhere in Essex, ( near Basildon ) that can stamp my book and change my oil for less than the cost of a new bike?

Cheers

Myke.

Sounds about right for a dealer

Either do it yourself and record it in the service book yourself, or spannerman on here seems to gets loads of reccomendations, although im not sure where he's based, London area i think.

Yip,because they are main dealers they think of a number & double it!

Shop around the area or do a google search, you will be surprised at what you find.

I found a local bike mechanic beside me by chance,he only charges £30 an hour, not cheap but cheaper than the big boys

Does anyone know where spannerman is based?
Also can i do the oil change myself using genuine parts as my bike is still under warranty until 2011?

Is it just an oil change though. Don't they clean and lube things too?

Blimey, even my independent charges more than that. Surprised they can make a living.

Spannerman is Surrey/Middx. Staines or Egham I think.

Downside to buying a new bike is often being tied into their service network. Theoretically, you should be able to do the work yourself or use a qualified mechanic if all OEM parts and specified lubricants are used and the schedule adhered to, but it may be very difficult in the event of a warranty claim to get Suzuki to pay up.

Well they do check the bike over, but looking in my manual all that is replaced is oil, not even a filter.
The warranty was the main reason i was asking, didn't want to do it myself then have a problem with my bike and not be able to have it fixed under warranty.
I guess its not that bad as it will be the only service that i will have had to get them to do, i have only don 2500 in 12 months. so by the time the 7.5 k one is due it will be out off warranty
