Anyone nearby with a garage/shed, tools and know-how?
Hi all
Well, my curvy could really use a service, if nothing else but for me to gain some experience and to give me peace of mind. I have no idea when it's last proper service was so needs doing. I want to cover all the basic servicing items, plus some other stuff like checking valve clearances, brake overhaul, changing fork oil, etc. I have some of my own tools which I can bring along, but I'm thinking the people who are going to offer assistance will probably have tools anyway! Hopefully this can all be done in a day. Not got a day in mind yet, will be a weekend. I dont mind paying, if you could let me know how much you want. Thank you |

Get your service done by spanner man,
aka http://stewarts-motorcycles.co.uk/default.html you can see it getting done, but if you want it done propley let him do it.. yep he does my service, plus he also does tyres, got new tyres fitted by him last week..

Hongman - Mark Davall's does a really good job, and it's a bit closer than the man with spanners

I appreciate where you are coming from wanting to know how to service your bike yourself and I would suggest a night school vehicle maintenance course as a starter.
It is a bit unfair to ask somebody who does it for a living to show you so you don't have to pay in future. They would be cutting off their own income. Bit like asking somebody to watch and learn how to do your job and then doing it for nothing. Sounds a bit mercenary but being honest and it is up to the individual professional repairer what he does Last edited by Dicky Ticker; 26-10-10 at 10:29 AM. |

Thank you everyone
DT, I think you have the wrong idea? I'm not specifically asking for someone who does this for a living, as I can see your point there. Just your average joe who knows what he is doing will do for me. In fact I probably wouldnt feel comfortable going to someone who I know does this for a living, even if they offered it for free. BBadger, I have a few offers on PM, depending on timetable clashes and such, it may well be December til I get a chance, so I'll hold you to that one! A nice chance to make a new friend/get to know one better from the org; maybe one day I can repay the favour another way. |
