sounds like carb setup to me, to rich on idle then with the cap removed its leaning off but this makes it to lean when getting on the throttle if that make sense!.

Are you sure the chokes didn't interfere? The cables are pretty knackered, could be holding something open. Seems odd a second set of carbs do the same thing. I do wonder what difference having the TPS disconnected from the ignitor does, but this is a new problem. Hmmm..... Did you blow out all the jets in the carbs with WD40? So it also came out the back end (airbox end)? Have you checked the colour of the plug? And the other stuff? Need to tick off all the things before starting on something else - the rule of one - only change one thing at a time.

Bwahaha, I've never done owt that daft, no not me.

Favourite also is knocking the front coil wires off when putting the tank back. "errr why have I got a 325cc single and no rev counter..."

Or another member on here reassembling starter system. "Oh noes YC... there's just a spinning noise, the starter clutch must have gone"... nope, you put the starter motor sleeve back 180 degrees out and it's spinning backwards!

Yeah none of us has ever done anything that silly.

On an unrelated note an org member not a million miles from here was stripping a pair of forks a few weeks ago. The first one came apart nice and easy, the damper rod bolt on the 2nd one was a git. When it finally came out went straight into trying to knock the oil seal out. It really wasn't shifting, had a check after a while, the retaining clip is still there. Very stuck and subsequently bent at this point but definitely still there...
