Default Supertwin?

Im contemplating turning the sv into a supertwin. What fork upgrades do people recommend or mods?

Normal things are springs, thicker oil and emulators.
Or you could swap the front end for a gsxr one.
I have done just the springs/oil and the change is very noticeable for little money/work.
If your going racing check what mods are allowed as most will not allow the gsxr front end.

For a minitwin you have to keep the standard fork sliders & stanchions.

For a Supertwin I believe you can use parts from other bikes as long as it's from the same manufacturer. This is why SVs end up with GSXR forks. I suspect a very recent GSXR600/750 would make the most sense but you may well need them re-spring and re-valved to suit their new role. Do you know what club you'd be looking at racing with?

Iom regulations state that all parts have to be from the manufacturer of the Base bike.
Tbh you can get some very good parts off 2010 onward gsxrs

It depends on which SV you have pointy or curvy.

The curvy has different head stock sizes compared to the GSXR's you can get an odd size bearing (47x30x12) that allows the K3-K4 GSXR yokes to fit right on with no alterations. all you need to do then is just run the GSXR front wheel as they are still 120/70.

the pointy you can fit the K6 onwards on. there are a few very good posts on this site about it,

This link is good start http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.p...SXR+Front+swap

hope this helps.

Only the frame and swing arm will need to be from the same manufacturer. This is from the TT regs:

1. Frame and Swing Arm
•Frame must remain as originally produced by the manufacturer for the homologated machine. Surplus attachment brackets may be removed and
replaced with those more suitable for race fairings, sub frame attachment & instrument brackets. Rear sub frame may be removed, replaced or modified.
•Swing arm may be replaced from a model of the same Manufacturer, provided the original attachment to frame and rear suspension remains as
homologated.

2. Suspension
•Forks may be replaced. Fork yokes / triple clamp may be changed. Original internal parts of the fork may be modified or replaced. Aftermarket
damper kits or valves may be installed. Fork springs may be replaced. Fork caps may be modified or replaced beyond the homologated standard
to allow external adjustments.
•Steering damper may be added or changed.
•Rear suspension unit can be changed or modified, but the original attachment to the frame and swing arm must remain as homologate
