Curvy headstock adjuster torque?
I know this is a bit of a RTFM question but the haynes is clear as mud
What torque does the adjuster nut need to be at? As it was quite loose when I stripped it and its at 65nm in haynes Thanks Andy

Re: Curvy headstock adjuster torque?
The 99-02 bikes have a single adjuster under the top yoke, the K3+ have an adjuster and locknut.
I believe the official numbers are supposed to imply doing up the bottom nut to the correct torque to take the slack out, then holding it steady and doing the locknut that sits above it on a washer to the higher value. But it's been a little while since I've had one apart. Either way really what you want is the loosest setting for the adjuster nut at which there is no play in the headstock, as over-tightening this will make it feel nasty, and shag the bearings good and fast. Above that, and the top yoke is the headstock top nut which is also done up to somewhere in the 65nm range Jambo

Re: Curvy headstock adjuster torque?
I was about close with the nip I give it (haynes got ignored yesterday). I'll readjust it at the weekend as probably on the tight side at the minute
