Re: Dakar cancelled
What a terrible pity! The route would have passed quite close to where I live and I had a day pencilled in to go take some photos. I have a French friend who lives here who was too participate as he is regularly one of the top privateers.

Re: Dakar cancelled
Gutted.
The rally was starting to make a name for itself at last over here, cos of Boorman and the increasing Brit involvement. Even got some coverage in the national newspapers the last few years. Well, the bastids have ground the French down then,eh?! Quel surprise! |

Re: Dakar cancelled
There was a bigger Scottish and Irish contingent this year. Real shame for the privateers as well as the bigger teams.

Re: Dakar cancelled
Typical French.Cheeze and biscuits then bring out the white flag.
Perhaps we could hold an alternative event in Kenya.

Re: Dakar cancelled
Thats a shame, for me the Dakar marks the start of a new motorsport season, its the first big event of the year and whilst I don't know anyone who takes part, I'm always interested and in awe of the guys that make it to the finish, let alone the ones that win!
Anyway, its for a good reason; considering all the fighting going on in that part of the world, and the unrest, its not a good idea to go blasting through on a big noisy bike, car or truck. Matt |
