fuel cleaner ???
Hi all.
After changing spark plugs, balancing carbs, checking all vacuum pipes, cleaning battery terminals, checking chain, oil... I still have problems at low speed. Before I give up and take it to a garage I want to just try cleaning my fuel lines/carbs etc by adding a good fuel cleaner to see if that works. I know about Redex but heard thousands of times how useless it is, any one know of a good one ?? cheers Ash |

If you want to check for rubbish in the fuel, do it properly and use the carb drains that are there, undo them and make sure everything coming out is the same colour etc, blobls of rusty water are (unsupprisingly) bad. Most fuel attitives don't help a lot.

Fuel additives include corrosion inhibitors but won't do a lot to clean carbs really. You can take them off and clean them if you suspect a lot of crap, but try Jambo's suggestion first and see how the juice looks coming out.
Have you chekc the throttle position sensor is properly adjusted? I have checked two of these and both were miles out. What symptoms are you getting? |

I add isopropyl type fuel drier occasionally, it absorbs and cleans any moisture/water, it's also a solvent, so it will work on deposits to an extent too, at least it keep them from building up it you add regular, I add 3-4 ounces about 1 a month
now that our gas has an ethanol component, I'm not sure I need to anymore |
