Default Datatool 3 alarm help ...

Ok so the bikes been off the road for a while now and I had to disarm the alarm before I could strip the bike.

The alarm has a sensor at the back of the bike which used to go off when the rear fairing was removed.

The problem now occurs when I'm reconnecting the battery as the alrm is setting off immediatly wven though I've put the sensors in the same place as before.

So does anyone have a suggestion about this or know about this type of alarm?

Thanks in advance.

It's probably just the alarm sensing the current change when you reconnect hte battery, try disarming it with the key fob. From memory the datatool peimeter switch is not bothered wether made or open the alarm just looks for a change of state. For future reference always put the alarm into service mode before disconnecting battery etc.

If you are having problems turning the alarm off, or when you turn it off it just starts again, check the fuse to the alarm. If this is blown it will not work correctly. Also try dissarming the alarm with the ignition turned on.

Dont go removing any switches or wiring as this may make the insurance company a bit iffy in the event of the bike being stolen and as said before the switch only looks for a state change eg on-off or off-on. I have broken a bit off my switch so its never pressed down when the seat is on, apart from that the alarm still works fine.

Yeah it was in service mode when I disconnected the batt. BTW I noticed your from plymouth .. have you checked out southwestbikers. Great for hooking up with bikers in the local area.

I concur with the others. I read somewhere that you should put into service mode and remove the alarm fuse, in case you spike the alarm.

I the alarm is spiked then you can use this info to reset it.

the inline fuse is the one near your fuse box on a fly lead, the PCB has a battery link (little black thing) that you have to remove.
