Default Re-new insurance time.

Just spoke to an insurance company about my renewal and they won't insure my bike because I've got HELL brake lines. When I explained that the originals were due for replacement and the HELL ones are cheaper and better than the originals, they said 'because they are better, you will ride faster and take more risks'. After explaining my last bike was a 1300 FJR and at 38 years old (and riding for 12 years) I am not an idiot! They wouldn't budge. Oh and if I made a claim they would replace the brand new Scorpion can with the standard OEM can.

Suffice to say, they didn't get my money....

hahahahaha. Nobbers.

I love it when people start making up reasons on the fly. It would have been better (and more honest) to have answered your question with "dunno, I just work here init".

From the first sentence it appears they don't want his money. Quite right too. He's clearly a danger to society with those braided brake lines.

Insurance has gone mental.
Before I bought my SV a few weeks back, I got a quote for a 2005 repsol blade worth 5k.

Bearing in mind this was with a company who insured me last time I was on 2 wheels (just over 2 years ago) they kept my no claims of 3 years running which I thought was great.

Anyway, they quoted me £348 fully comp but the excess was about £500.

I got the quote for the SV from them.. £4500 purchase cost.. Brand new. £368.

I thought it wasn't terrible as I got to keep my no claims..BUT.. I thought I'd try a company WITHOUT any no claims, which I expected it to be astronomical.

Well the quote came back at £249 from Bennetts with lesser excess too

I went back to the originals and their reply was, "well you at least keep your no claims this way." "But over £100 cheaper with 0 no claims? Can't you do anything?" I asked.

"No, but you are better with us than them." I asked why?

He couldn't give me any reasonable reason as to why I shouldnt walk away with £100 in my pocket.
So I've had a few free tanks of fuel.. Well thats what I think of it anyway!!!

Sounds familiar... I've just renewed the KTM, after adding it to my previous policy. Renewal quote was 920, but trivial shopping around got it under 500.

Ok; so the company in question was surprisingly 'Bikesure'. And believe it or not the guy claimed to be a biker. Although, waffle was clearly not his forte.
