Default Speedo problem

I have just bought a 2005 sv650s and when i took it out for the first time today the speedo shows 30mph indicated when i am actually traveling at 60mph which can be confirmed by my satnav.

I held town the adjust button to change the speedo to kph. This also only shows approximately 50% of the actual speed you are traveling/

Whats the problem likely to be? The bike has been rebuilt due to a low speed drop before i purchased it.

mmmmmmmmmm.........

yup thats the whole thing not the rotor but the whole thing is like £120 brand new so may as well get the whole thing, the wheel has to come off but just slots in place of the one there and plugs in up buy the clocks

ok thanks, if the clocks are only showing 30mph when i am doing 60mph at least i will only be putting 50% of the actual mileage on the bike.

Check you,ve got the right number of magnets in the sensor - your's may have twice as many as it should thus doubling your apparant speed.
Try a Search - above right - it's a regular problem.
