Default Abba Stand & SK8?

Have searched through threads and still cant find exactly what I need to find out...

We have just bought a 2005 SV650s K5 for my wife. She would like work on it herself. Whilst neither of us are new to bikes, this is the first Jap bike either of us have owned for well over 20 years and it is certainly the first "modern style" bike.

I have looked at the Abba stands and I am guessing that the references on this site are to this :- Abba Stand

Please can someone confirm this is the one that we need to get. If not, please can someone point us in the right direction.

Secondly, is the front lift worth getting?

Thank you.
Simon

The stand you've linked will do the job; there are others available from Abba & other manufacturers, but it'll certainly cope.

You may need an extra attachment for the K5 for the Abba stand to sit in the swing arm pivot properly - I can't remember, but you can talk to Abba directly about that. Just tell them about the bike(s) you have, and they'll suggest what bits & the cost.

As for the front lift, I'd say it's not worth the money. Especially not if you have a car trolley jack etc that you can place under the engine (anywhere near the sump bolt is sufficiently strong enough). Alternatively, as I have, stick some anchor bolts in the ground & use a ratchet strap over the rear of the bike.

You won't be disappointed when it arrives, cracking bit of kit.

+1 on this. Passed their place going to and going home from the AR09, plus it was on the rideout route

+ another 1, not only for the kit, but their service as well. When mine arrived it looked , um, a little "different" to this pictures with none of the angles true. I mailed them some pics of my own and their response was "don't use it - it looks like it has been run over by the delivery truck!" They had a replacement out the same day, and arranged collection of the bent one.
In fact, the SV is parked on it at the mo having just been washed waxed and lubed - I wouldn't be without it!

Ordered the front and rear stands along with the fitting kit this morning. After some discussion with Hilary, we decided to get the front one as well.

Thanks to everyone for chipping in.
