Default Yuasa YT12A-BS or YT12S?

My battery has died on the SV650 that I bought from Wyder in Preston last week.

I have told them it has a Yuasa YT12A-BS on it but they are sending me a YTZ12S

Is this correct???

Thanks, Alan

It's not correct exactly, but it'll work and it's a better battery, I've got one in mine and it's ace. Though more expensive, it's got a higher maximum output so it's much better at starting the bike- you know what it's like when the temperature's low, the starter sounds like it's barely able to turn over... No more of that. It's a wee bit taller so fitment isn't quite the same, but I just removed the fusebox tray and it fitted fine.

As northwind said above....

The YTZ12S battery is much better in my opinion too, and removing the fusebox tray is simply done.

The fusebox tray doesn't actually do anything, except get in the way when you're putting the tank back on. So don't worry about removing it if you must, all you have to do is pull the tabs out of the rubber bits. Easier done than said.

I would check your alternator and reg/rec using a multimeter as well.Your battery may have failed in a week because it was old and shagged but it may have been destroyed by a faulty charging system.Be a shame to fry the new one as well for the sake of ten minutes checking.
