Default Bike battery placement

I have read on some sites that bike batteries should not be stored on their side incase of leaking. But the new batteries are mostly sealed and should not cause a problem.

So, people that have done GSXR or 636 shock have a bit of a problem, moreso the 636 conversion requires the battery to be moved under the rear seat on its side.

Will it be a problem or not?

Modern bike batteries are either sealed lead acid or Gel. There is a small chance that a sealed lead acid battery would leak if laid directly on its side ( they are mostly installed at an angle and not directly on thier side.). A very very small chance at that may i add. A Gel battery would be fine to lay on its side as it is fully sealed by the manufacturer.

Hope that helps

Ive got a sealed Yuasa one at the moment on its side with a small 1-5deg angle upwards. I am just checking it every few days to see if it is still ok.

Hopefully it will not cause a problem, if it does i will have to change to a gel battery.
