Default Broken down

Well I started my SV last night and rode to the garage, filled with fuel, and went for a little blast. All was well

I went out at 0615 this morning, and she started first time. I let her warm up whilst I got dressed, and got on to ride to work.

I get a mile down the road, and my bike cuts out! Lights still on, but no ignition. I try to start it on the move (coasting), but nothing.

I pull over, and lights come on, ignition lights come on, but nothing when i press the starter (totally dead).

I rang the breakdown man and got it towed to the garage, as he couldnt sort it. Man at the garage had a little fiddle, but to no avail.

A bit gutted really, fancied a nice bracing ride to work this mornig, as its nice and dry in Lincolnshire today.

Will have to wait and see what the dude at the bike garage says.

Any wagers as to what it could be?

The stand switch thingy? Which stops it from starting when in gear?

Sounds simple but it has happened to a few on here.

Good morning.

As everything else is still live, I would check the ignition fuse as a first port of call.

Cheers.

First things that comes to mind are either the clutch or side stand cut-out switches have dodgy connections.

A there ends my technical knowledge of the SV

Second this, possibly reg/rec on its way out/lack of power.

Spanner Man, your fuse prediction was correct.

Not 100% sure which fuse it was, but it was a 10amp one under the seat.

Wish I hadn't given it to the garage to be honest, but it was cold and i couldn't be bothered (didn't think it would be something as simple as a fuse tbh).

Only charged £10 to remove/refit side panels and seat etc, so not too bad.

I will carry a spare fuse from now.

Good afternoon all.

It always pays to check the simple things first eh. Glad it's sorted.

Cheers.

No but I'll make sure I do next time I bump into him.

Richiek - there's usually spares in fuse box unless some ass has swiped them.
