Nero - just want to put files on a DVD!

Having nearly put my fist through the screen a few times now, I'm going to consult the .org in order to save my wallet and my blood pressure.

Very simple, and I am normally very good with computers so this will be out of the ordinary, but I have a muppet question. How do I just put files from my hard drive onto a DVD?

Every single time I try this, Nero insists on making a ****ing ISO image. I insert the blank DVD-RW, open up Burning Rom SE, name the disc, add the files I want, go to burn and it makes me save an ISO file on the hard drive. Then it says it is 'burning' but it is NOT, because the drive is not active and it is still blank. It just makes an ISO, then smugly informs me it has completed burning when it has done no such thing! If I try to burn the ISO, it then tries to save another ISO!

All I want is to put the files on the disc. I do not want them to be in an image file. I do not want to make a DVD audio disc. I do not want to make a DVD video disc either. I just want to DVD to be a storage device to hold the files I put there.

Any help? My head is about to explode

My guess would be target location?
It's probably set to "record to hard disk" or "record image to hard disk"
So even if you say "burn" - all it does is "burn to hard disk".
Then if you say, oh I have an ISO image I want to burn - it says, "ok, fine thanks, now where shall burn that? oh yes, I know - to the hard disk" LOL

Just check the settings somewhere, I don't have Nero so I can't help with exact location but have a mooch around and you should find somewhere in Nero to change the "burner" or "target location" to your DVD recorder

nero defaults to cd writing not dvd so i would start the wizard and select "data dvd" then place the files you want to burn into the left hand side tree for the dvd. then click on tools at the top of the screen
in that menu is an option to "select writer" select the writer you want to use and hit the burn button...

sorry if this isnt that acurate i dont have a burner at work but can check when i get home....

Hmmm, well those had been the steps I was already doing. As it happens, the issue just kinda resolved itself, after about 10 tries and without changing any settings it just did it. Very odd, but result all the same.
