I do partake on occasion, haven't liked all that I've tried, but have enough to give me some variety!!! I will take them neat ,with a little water to open them up nicely or on ice (the last option is my preferred way.....)

Ones I like:-

Glenmorangie (10 yr old)
Glenfiddich (Special Reserve)
Isle of Jura 10 and 18 (the 18 was superb)
Macallan 10 yr old
Laphroig
Glenlivet
Glenrothes - never heard of this 'til I tried it in LA of all places!!!

Ones I wasn't keen on:-

Bowmore - too much like TCP!!!
Ardbeg - shame, as I live on Ardbeg Road (worth trying as it could've been cool!!)

Now this may ruffle a few feathers, I have just tried a glass of English Whisky, should that be whiskey or even whiskie, who knows, anyhoo it was distilled in November 2006 & was bottled last weekend by the guy that bought it (actually he bought 12 bottles), i was quite surprised at how nice it was considering it is only three years old, quite mellow & fruity especially with a drop of water but obviously very pale, it has been aged in Bourbon barrels.

Now do i accept his kind offer of buying a bottle at what he paid for it, actually they are engraved decanters, each with it's own number & certificate, i think i will, then take a quick trip to the distillery to get a bottle for appreciation.

Best you explain that once the bottle is open it evaporates and was taken away by the "Whisky Fairies"

Should you need help and feel the need to eliminate this problem please feel free to ask for my assistance

I was very pleasantly surprised by Penderyn (Welsh Whisky) which again was very young when first marketed. Penderyn give no age statement but it was on the shelves three years after the first distillation AFAIK. I'm waiting with bated breath to see if they bring out an older whisky.

As an aside, I thought you can only call it whisky if it has aged 3 years and a day in the barrel? Or is that Scotch Whisky only?
