Default Air intake

Hiya,

I have a 2006 SV650 and fitted the K&N panel filter yesterday. I noticed that the air intake faces downwards.
I thought of modifying the air intake so that the tube is at the front of the bike. Looking at some bikes like the new ZX10R and the Aprillia RSV they have this already.
Anyone got any pros and cons for this or know anyone who has done it?

yep, has some advantages to get clean cool air into the air box and various systems exist to supply air straight off the front of the fairing mostly involving ducting via GRP or similar. Racers attempt this to gain 2- 3 HP but have to be wary of rules that govern the design for their series. Get the fueling set up right with a better race can or full system and 14T front sprocket might inject a bit more life if you really need it.

Great stuff thanks. I'll have a look around for the intake kit and I really need to get the fueling right as have a, 'Can' and filter now.
