Default Shortening a sidestand

As some of you may be aware Im a bit of a shortarese, anyway had the bike lowered recently and its made a huge difference, the only thing not altered was the sidestand, anyway Ive just managed to kick the bike over, thankfully without damage but I need to shorten the sidestand, so , its aliminium, is it worth just cutting a bit off and leaving it as is or should I shorten it but weld on the foot again, does it matter ?
Thanks
stew

Cut it down so that you're happy with it, (obviously just a bit at a time!), then get a suitable oval plate welded on the end.

Could you not file down front of pivot point so it sticks further forward?
