First service
as some may know i picked up a 2005 sv650 with only 58 miles on it a few weeks back.
now i have been running it in and it is up to 550 miles. a mate at work said that that is about the right time for its first service. the question is.... What is normally done on a first service? I aint worried about gettin my hands dirty and i am pretty handy with a spanner and if all else fails my old man has built more bikes than i can shake a stick at! So is it worth paying someone else to do it just to get a stamp in the book or would you do it yourself?? Thanks. Colin. |

Re: First service
I would think Oil & Filter mate, then just a general lookover, check everythings tight.

Re: First service
Oil & Filter and a general check over, there's no warranty left so not worth dealer servicing - unless you really want to.

Re: First service
Got my 1st service done the other week, admittedly it's on a brand new bike, but it cost me £29 at the stealers, so hardly worth getting my hands dirty once I've bought oil/filter (plus I want to keep up the warranty), plus I get to ride different bikes for a couple of hours while it's there!

Its just an oil and filter change and torque all the bits up. To be honest, you can probably do a better job than most stealers as mine didn't do half the checks (As found out when tightening / greasing bits myself with Spannerman)
