http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/a..._glass_mat_agm It's a great reference site. Battery Technology has been behind-the-curve in Physics until recently and the basic principle was formed in 1799.So it's taken over 200 years for anything really new to come about but with the rush to,"Go Electric" battery technology is now moving fast. https://www.sciencedaily.com/news/ma...rgy/batteries/ https://www.ft.com/content/46adb98c-...4-59efdb70e12f

Re: Lithium battery
Maker better batteries is harder than most people imagine, they seem to work well to start with but then as they go through more discharge and charge cycles unexpected problems show up. There has been hype around revolutionary new batteries many times but then everything goes quiet and they don't make it into production. Many people think super and ultra capacitors are the new answer, but they are just a helper for a battery as their energy density is terrible (10 times worse than lead acid) but they can accept and release energy quickly, so maybe good for regenerated power on vehicles, but not as a substitute for the battery.
https://www.tecategroup.com/ultracap...acitor-FAQ.php Bear in mind that the energy storage of capacitors is made to look better in the graphs on website in link because graphs are on a logarithmic (base 10) scale.

Re: Lithium battery
Lead acid batteries work fine in general. Problem with bikes is they are miniaturised, sometimes to a stupid degree. They last for years in a car though. Bigger is better so bikes will always suffer most. The SV battery compartment is small and the stock battery is stupid small. Big battery big amps is needed to get the best out of them, especially for a high compression twin.
A lot of side car guys run a car battery located in the side car. No more battery problems.
