just a little word of caution for pointy owners. the pointy does not like low rear tyre pressures and will cause a weave at higher speeds on the road. track riding is different as you can get a lot more heat into tyres which increase the pressures more.

if your riding on the road stick to OEM pressures and work forward/back from there till you get to somewhere you like. always use a good pressure gauge. always take cold pressures.

unlike cars, even the slightest of ''pssssttt'' when disconnecting the valve can drop your pressure by 2psi.

for those that have had the PR3's prior to the PR4's what's the verdict?

i'll be changing the rear when i get back from my jollys and was thinking of the PR4 but i must admit to liking the PR3 very very much and would like not to take a step backwards for the sake of mileage.

I have one of these on my pointy.
http://www.tyre-track.net/products

For £99 its amazing value.
It is located above my clocks and looks quite at home there, ill have to take some pics.

Few advantages:
1. Identifies a puncture as it happens allowing you to stop before you either.
1.a) ruin the tyre by running it flat
1.b) lose the ability to control the bike

2. Tyre temperature
2.a) Confidence in trusting your tyres are heated enough to provide mega grip.
2.b) if the front or rear are very far apart temperature wise.. Bearing failure or binding calipers.

3. Tyre pressure
3.a) Means you don't have to check them when hot/cold etc
3.b) bike feels funny for a second? Do i have a flat? Instant confidence rebuilder.

4. Battery indicator + voltage gauge, handy.

As mentioned, you'll be surprised at the Psi difference between hot and cold.

One of my best purchases..!

Everything you've heard about the PR4's is true.
You will not regret buying them.
Can't say about the PR3's personally but the 4's are supposed to offer more grip than the 3's as well as mileage.

The PR4's are light years ahead of my old PR2's in terms of handling, feedback and ride. Tons more grip on the road, wet or dry.
Like the difference between radials and bias tyres.

thats good to know, i love the PR3's but i could not get on with the PR2's which i felt were wooden and skittish until warmed up properly which was around 20 miles. think i will try a PR4 rear next as the front PR3 looks good for 10k miles.

Default Pilot Road 4

Front still going strong at 12k and the first rear still had a little left after 8k. I changed it early because the middle was square.

Plenty of grip wet and dry. You'll love them.

Just ordered a set of PR4's for the Gixer from Tyreleader.co.uk. £19 more expensive than the PR3's, but still under £200 for the pair.

Looks as if I'll be testing the Pr4's wet weather capabilities to the fullest this weekend.
About six to seven hundred miles in torrential rain in the mountains if the weather forecast is correct.
