Commuting / Sport Touring Tyres
I am looking for some sports touring tyres for my curvy. I am riding about 280 miles a week and need some thing that will last a bit but still have the fun in sport mode.
I was hopeful that the MCN test this week might shed some light on the subject, but again the report was cr*p. No info to allow you to make an informed choice - they are all fantastic!!! Has there been a sports touring test in any of the monthlys recently? Or is there one advertises in the near future? Thanks Duke |

Re: Commuting / Sport Touring Tyres
You looked in the tyres section of the Reviews bit on this site? Quite a lot of info on there.
FWIW I have Avon Azaro ST (Sport Touring) AV45/AV46 tryres on my curvey and rate them highly. These have been superceded by the Storm ST now which also have good reviews. Other tyre fans will be along shortly..... |

I loved the old 010 front and 020 rear set up, but I thin theyhavebeen superceeded now? I'd still get them if they were about though.

Popular opinion indicates Metzeler Z6 Roadtecs, which i am considering at the moment.

Yup Z6s are a great combination of performance and long life.Pirelli do a version as well, and I believe they are made in the same factory as Z6s and are essentially the same.

Re: Commuting / Sport Touring Tyres
Thanks I will check out Bike re the Pilots.
One thing that I got from MCN was the the Perelli Strada is 60% sport 40% touring, while the Metzler Z6 is 40% sport and 60% touring (if you believe MCN!) Duke |

Re: Commuting / Sport Touring Tyres
I do 500+ miles/week. I won't have anything other than Z6's for longevity.
They're also sticky enough for me to go hooning around at speeds I really shouldn't. |

Re: Commuting / Sport Touring Tyres
I too liked the Z6's - I do 300 miles a week mostly commuting, but love the hooning too. They gripped well and lasted a magnificent 12,000 miles!!
I now have Road Atacks - I don't think they will last as well (I am guessing 8,000 - 9,000 miles) but the grip is fantastic |
