Default Editing software

Good morning editors.

I need to tap into the org collective for this, I have a logo for work that I want to edit. It's a Jpeg, text and basic line image with solid background colours.

I need to re-jig the text and background colours to make it black/white so it's bold enough when it is printed on our labels. Where should I be looking for software?

It's a one off so I really need to be looking at freeware, the last time I did anything like this was on Photoshop an age ago, these days the wife takes the photos on her phone and edits them there.

Cheers

Ste

dont let the name put you off, Gimp is a free image editing tool, like Photoshop.

Gimp is good but takes some while to get ones head around the complexities. Paint.net is astonishingly good and has a massive array of free plugins available.

Someone else got there first, but Gimp would be my first choice for a free image editor.

To convert to black and white use Colours->Saturation and reduce it to Zero. Then go to Colours->Brightness-Contrast and adjust until you find a contrast which prints well.

The only gotcha is that 'Save' uses the Gimp storage format, so if you want a bitmap file you have to use File->Export instead.

Regards,

Keith.
