Tapping Sound when Hot - SV650.org

Hi,

I have a bit of an issue. My 2010 SV650s that I've owned for about a month now.

When the bike is hot and you're at a standstill, in neutral with the bike idling. There's a distinct tapping sort of metallic noise. It goes away, as soon as you start moving.

Ive read a lot about cam chain tensioners and loose clutch baskets.

I took it back to the dealership that I bought it from and was told they couldn't hear anything strange. Obviously without hearing it, this post is probably pointless, but just wanted to get some thoughts on this.

Is there something there or do they sound like this and I have to just ignore it. Haha

have you kept your oil topped up?

its more than likely clutch basket backlash, could also be an exhaust shield rattling. the SV has all sorts of weird noises. as long as you keep the oil topped up and the bike serviced then it should last a long time.

Does the noise go away when you pull the clutch in with the engine running in neutral?
