Trouble Starting... - SV650.org

Hi Folks, my '01 Naked 650 has been having some problems starting.

The engine turns over...and over...and over...and over, which makes me assume it is not the battery.

The only way to get it started in a timely manner is to Open and Close the Gas Cap. After that, it starts like a charm.

Ideas?

Some sort of blocked breather pipe? I'd check the wee pipes going from the petrol tank to the carbs and any other pipes from the tank/carbs.

I'm guessing when you open the gas 'cap' you can hear air suction?

Haven't heard any air suction. Ill listen more closely next time. I open/close the 'cap' before starting...if that helps.

What about the vac pump not working properly?
