Default Speedo malfunction

Hello all,
I've searched this and seems that mostly all the clocks go not just the speedo, but my speedo has gone and the rev counter is still working.
There is a light behind the speedo still, and initally it went, then came back and now has gone again (with in 2 days) so I suspect wiring?
What is the easiest way to get to the back of the clock to check for loose wires?

Oh, the odometer is working.

k2 curvy BTW.

Thanks

I woulda suggested your speedo drive, but as you say, your odometer is working, but if you say your lights went, could be reg/rec. Get the fairing off and check for loose wires first.

Take front wheel off and check the drive there-you'll probably find that its been mashed

Correction on this, the odometer is not working as an odometer, but it's working as in displaying figures, just not ticking up the miles as I ride.
Sry for any confusion.

Mine's doing the exact same thing mate, started playing up after it hit the road. I'm interested to see how you fix it

take a look at the speedo drive on the front wheel assembly. They always fall to bits. Common problem, you'll probably need to replace it.

Certainly would check the speedo drive first.

The four lugs get brittle I reckon with age and can snap off.

Close up of the four lugs.
