Why don't they put bike engines in cars?
Small, light, compact etc. Am I missing something?

They do. You can get an R1 powered mini. Or a Hyabusa Turbo'd mini.
Try Z-Cars Peformance

Not enough torque, I'd imagine.

Re: Why don't they put bike engines in cars?
Probably a combination of low service intervals, low torque (comparatively), and a narrow power band, and high revs needed.
OK for one off exotics (like the Mini's above and the 'busa powered Smart Car), but not sensible for a "regular" car. |

Re: Why don't they put bike engines in cars?
Cant believe no one has mentioned it yet.......cars weigh quite alot lol
And to be fair its much of a muchness.......an engine is an engine. 1ltr twins rev to 12krpm? A sports car engine is 2ltr and can rev to 9krpm producing more power. Size of engines depends on the size/weight of the vehicle your trying to power. Putting a 600cc engine in a 1ton car is pointless.
