Just needed a little run about so I've bought a 1.4 Fiesta Titanium auto. It'll suit my needs fine, and even though it's a 2009 model it's only got 28k miles on the clock as it was bought as a motability scheme vehicle, so came with FSH, all the receipts and not been thrashed by any boy racers either.

We've had Motability cars since 2004 as my wife is disabled. They're always prestine when we hand them back as I look after them. Milage is rarely more than 21k. I've always thought they'd be a bargain buy for someone.

The downside is that some Motability owners don't treat their cars well. They trash them like a hire car and run them ragged.

Saying that I think those owners are rare and they'll get told to pay for any damages that isn't normal wear and tear as essentially the contract is a lease. If a car comes back in good condition the owner gets a £250 award.

Looks like you've done okay.

The car was bought from the neighbouring dealer but this dealer has done all the servicing so they know the car. They gave me 12 months warranty too. I'm going to miss my heated seat!

yup only done 14k in 4 years with ours. i extended the lease to 5 years so come september next year i'll be buying it. this is our second motability car and TBH its more trouble than i thought it would be due to the restrictions on tyres and servicing centres.

But you aren't going to miss the BMW servicing costs

I had to get rid of my 15 year old Zafira, as I could see a massive bill appearing, so it wasn't worth keeping, dull car, but never let me down, and so practical.

Got myself an Astra of the same vintage, but only 36000 on the clocks. Only £700, with FSH, one elderly gentleman owner.

It'll do me until I find the right car at the right price.

I'm lucky that very nearby I had an excellent BMW/Audi/Merc specialist. Labour charges way cheaper than the main dealer, they'd fit after market parts if they were available and I trusted them. They never patronised me for being a woman, in fact they'd happily take me into the workshop if I was interested in seeing what needed fixing.

There's a Ford dealer right next door but I may well continue to take the car to my regular guys as they'll work on any car. At the very least I'll be taking it there for the MOT as they give the car a general check every time.

My smile today is the new cat. He's racing around the house like an absolute loon, he may be 2 but he's a giant kitten. Finally he and Piggle are happy having their meals in the same room and both chilling in the lounge in the evenings.

My smile of the day is Electricity.
Nice to have power and running water again after three days without due to the hurricane.

Makes you realise how much we depend on these basics.

And how much modern life depends on having electric power.

Great big silver thing? I remember you telling us about buying it, which only seems to have been a couple of years ago, or is my memory playing tricks on me yet again?
