Tyres again! New tyres to replace stock ones

Right I have decided I need new tyres for the road bike, as they are looking tried.

I currently have the stock the tyres on the bike, that come with it when its bought new, so the dunlops

I use the bike all the time, so in the wet and the dry. In the winter when they don't have much heat in them, for long rides to places, getting to work. So I use the bike all the time for everything.

From the list below what are good, any suggestions ect? I want to put these on before the AR as well. They are seem to be about £200 mark fitted, good price?

Pilot Roads PC2 (i think thats right)
Z6 Metzeler
Avon Vipers

I had a quick look through some post about these but to be honest I know very little about tyres and what differences is between them. Would anyone be able to give some objective views, about what would suit my use for my bike please. Thx as always.

Any of the sports touring tyre(that won't be the Avon Viper then hehe) would suffice....just pick the one you like the look of the thread design most .

ive just bought pirreli diablos £160 pair, i was considering pr2 but iam on a tight budget.

i was thinking about the pirreli stradas but the seemed by the spec to be basically same tire to the diablos with more tred cut into it

ive used the diablos on my rs125 and got great mileage out of them about 8k on rear and 10k on front but obversely this was a 125 not a 650.

its up to you people like particular manufacturers so i would go for a tires on how you use it, i use them everyday but i like to go for a hard ride on the weekend so i tend to like th performance tires

"Performance tyres" hehehe. On about the avon storms as they're the ones I've done the mileage on, you don't need any more grip than those, if you use that amount on the road on any regular basis I wouldn't give good odds for you living too long!

I had Z6's and found them to be great- very confidence inspiring and very good grip- even as the front was on backwards (didn't spot this for 9 months of use!- DirtyDog saw that one when he helped with my brakes in Jan).

Got a pair of BT020's on at the moment. Not sure they feel quite as nice as the Metzelers, but they're still very good.

I've been on Z6s and Pirelli Diablos for a while, 25000 miles or so now, with occasional forays into cheap Sportec M1s and trackday take-offs... They're all the tyre I need, if they never make a better tyre I'll be happy enough. They're effective in the dry and very good in the wet- better than the Sportecs, and far better than a supercorsa or similiar in winter. they're also good for my short commute since high silica content tyres work decently when cold, and on most days they never get to full temp.

But I'm still interested in trying the 021, Storm and new development the Diablo Rosso- which is a sticky tyre made to last a long time rather than a long-lasting tyre made to be sticky. I've not heard from anyone who's actually worn one out yet but someone on SV Rider has 5000 miles on a rear now and it's still in good shape, that's good for a sticky. But they;re expensive.
