Default Track Day Insurance Question

Hi ,

sorry if it sounds like a stupid question , but if I just have 3rd party fire and theft , do I even have to tell my Insurance company that I plan to do a tack day since they aren't going to pay anything if I crash it anyway ?

They aren't even going to pay you anything if you insure it fully comprehensive on a track day :P

There are specialist tracday insurance schemes which may cost you upto 100 quid for the day and they do not normally cover plastics, levers, engine etc.

You can normally claim if you bend the frame although that is very unusual

It's not just you mate, it will probably be someone else that is a nutter that'll cause your problem.

agreed. Also go in the slow group if its your forst trackday and build the pace up slowly.

Last year a 5 of my mates did there very first trackday at donnington on new r1's gsxrs, firblades etc, only one of them came back with there bike in one peice becasue they were all riding like idiots

I looked at trackday insurance before I first went and decided it wasn't worth it unless you have a really trick bike. You're not covered for bodywork and there tends to be a big excess, so you need to pretty much destroy an SV to be able to make a claim.

YMMV though. Personally I went uninsured, when I did manage to bin it it was cheaper to fix than 2 days worth of insurance would have been
