Not too well known by the emerency services unless you've been in a while. It is a good idea but going through anothers phone is frowned upon due to human rights ECHR article 8.
Bloody red tape stops us being efficient! I've done it on my phone and carry contact numbers wrapped around my licence in my wallet, and the fact I'm allergic to certain medicines aswell. Many people just don't prepare for the worst |

i know- thats wot I thought ..
preperation see we all think it wont happen to us- yet every saturday night we hold our lottery tickets thinking that it will happen to us- statistically we have more chance of that accident so we shud be prepared- like having a couple of routines and escape routes and hammers to smash windows ready in case of a fire.!!! and indeed doing a fire drill evacuation with the kids from time to time!! ......it might be worth it one day !

It makes sence, I wouldn't mind a paramedic looking through my phone book in order to find a number of an emergency contact if I'm not able to do it for them.

Since my phone is permanently locked somebody will totally screw it up if they try guessing my pin number.
I know my wife carries a card to warn people that she takes an opiate inhibitor so if she need pain relief give her a big dose. And have talked to paramedics about this and they say that they don't tend to go looking in wallets handbags etc. and anyway they have guidelines as to what they can give. Privately they have admitted that if told by her or a close family member they would probably give the max permissable dose in the first place and just say she wasn't responding.

I used to always carry one of the old Medi Gen capsules with blood type, allergies, the fact that I'm diabetic and next of kin etc in it... Then a while back I was taking a wee trip in an ambulance and while chatting to the paramedic, she told me that most crews wouldn't recognise the capsule any more, as it just looks like a keyring, so there's not much point.
Dog tags is a good idea as long as they don't get caught on something and cut yer head off Or a laminated card in your wallet, that's the first place they look apparently.
