Try and get somewhere close to Dam Square or Central Station - thats where all the "places of interest" are...

How long are you going to be there? When I went for a week a couple of years ago we just booked the first two nights in a reasonable looking place called the Euphemia. It's not that cheap but it's not expensive, either. http://www.hostels.com/en/availabili...stelNumber.647
After that we moved around. There are lots of places between the red light district and centrum, most of them not expensive. I think the one we stayed in on the last night was called Centrum hotel, in fact. Wasn't exactly the nicest of hotels but it seemed clean enough, very cheap though. You'll find the nicer places to smoke/drink are outside the leidersplein, anyway, so I wouldn't bother staying there. It's not far to walk, regardless. |

You need to pm Tim Wilky mate. Amsteram is another place that he has worked in but naturally avoided all of the temptations so openly displayed. He is probably the only fella on here that would complain about not getting a good night's kip whilst there!

www.alpahrooms.com are good and have nice rates.
I've always fancied staying at the Hotel Cok but never got around to it. Beware some of the hotels near Dam Square are rough and ready, unless thats what you are after. Just a few canals out and its very peaceful* *although as a young man I'm not sure that's what you are after. |

Be weary with hostels..
I would offer advice on hotels, but bugger me if i remember the names..... I know i paid out about £230 for 3-4 nights with the missis, nice little hotel, clean, TV, safe etc. A nice hotel.... Last year i went with the missis and the boys... They hooked us up in a hostel for about £200 for similar nights... NEVER again, was bitten by bed mites n everything, it was awful... |
