Default GSXR Cutting out after a period of high rev's problem

Morning,

I'll start with the symptoms.

When i've been giving the bike some high revs for some period of time, say 5-10 minutes the exhaust start to sound like its blowing a bit then the power drops right down and comes back in bursts which can be a little disconcerting if you're giving it more of a handful just to keep a little speed. When im eventually able to pull over (A road, dual carriageway) it just cuts out completely and once left to stand for a small time will start again with a little choke.

To me it sounds like a fuel or electrical problem, possibly the coils perhaps. The tank and filter has been cleaned out.

What do you guys suggest?

Sounds like the exact same problem which happened to my friends Gixer 6. On his it turned out to be the Regulator/rectifier. Maybe have that looked at?

Hope this helps...

Sounds reasonable.

I shall have a look at that later this evening while i have my manual to hand. Any other suggestions for me to look at?

No other suggestions?

I'll have to check the reg/rec then.

It could be the generator. I had mine back at the dealers 4 times with these sort of cut-outs. They would happen at random after some riding and after 30 min cooling down it would run for a few more miles before it cut out again.
On each occasion the mechanics changed the carburettor, CDI unit, adjusted the valves, changed the spark plug but the problem kept on returning.
The 4th time the dealer managed to replicate the problem and was able to work his way up the electrical system up to the generator which was not sending any electricity when it was warming up.
Feel free to disregard this opinion as I ride a Piaggio X9 at the moment.
