Clutch Switch
Hi
I have an sv650 year 2000. I was just wondering if anyone knew if there is a way to bypass the clutch switch so there is no need to pull in the clutch lever when starting the bike?. Although i know this is probably a safety feature of the bike, but i have had a few problems with the bike being 'dead' when i press the starter switch and i think this may be the cause of the problem. Look forward to any help. Thanks |

Re: Clutch Switch
Yes, just pull the two connections off of the switch and connect them together.
And make sure it's not in gear next time you try to start it.

Re: Clutch Switch
as above
i bit of wire pushed in each one will do the trick, just to test it |

Re: Clutch Switch
Thanks for the advice . As for the first reply the bike was definately in neutral. Just wondered if this is a common fault with SV?.

Re: Clutch Switch
Morning all.
Clutch switches are a little problematic on most bikes, as quality wise they're somewhat akin to a 2 bob Taiwanese radio. When attempting to diagnose intermittent starting problems on any model, always bypass such switches one at a time, that way it's easier to identify the faulty one. Cheers. |

Re: Clutch Switch
And the relay the sidestand switch controls if all else fails.

Re: Clutch Switch
Hi
I am having a lot of problems and I am sure it is down to the clutch switch, I assume this will be the same for the pointy model too. I know this sounds fairly numptyfied but I assume when you mean the wires when you say connet the connectors togeather rather than the two prongs that are just under the lever? |
