Exhaust ShApE noise!

Ok at the end of each exhaust it goes into a shape where the gasses come out (not the baffle).

I was just wondering do different shape exhaust ends have different sounds, like does on oval one have a different note to a round one?

YES - it has gotta really hasn't it

Why?

Yeah, just physics. Bigger the whole - deeper the noise (to a point until there is no backpressure). Shorter the pipe, louder the noise. Volume of the pipe has loads to play too. Harley spend a fortune on development of the sound.

I don't know much about exhaust notes specifically, but I do know a lot about synthesis and I'd imagine a fair bit of the quality of the sound is determined by waves cancelling and reinforceing each other within the 'zorst. The shape would affect this and therefore the sound.
