Number plates
Looking at getting a new plate for a tail tidy and was curious as to what you guys have on in terms of size? Am opting for the 7 x 5 at the moment but that can change if someone has been pulled for having that size. The standard will be to big from what i have seen

I have 7 x 5 on all three of my bikes. All three also have interesting fonts, although the layout is standard .
Never had a tug, been followed by the law on two of the three and use the bike most days as a commuter. Now having said that I rarely ride to the weekend meets and if that was my biking life I'd have a standard plate. |

7x5 seems a good compromise. Mine has a legal font, just downsized a little, and you wouldn't look at it twice.
Also, to be honest anything smaller just doesn't look right to me... I have a wee 4x6: and it just looks too small. Single liners always look ridiculous to my eyes... i guess I'mjust used to seeing bikes with a decent size plate, anything less clashes.

My current one is standard... The one on my SV was 8" x 6" - smaller, but not takin' the p155 IMHO

As per
Being legal is all dependent on the Font, size and spacing including the outer border the name of the company who made the plate plus reflective qualities These definitions are all available on the DVLA Site
There is no definition as to the outer dimensions as long as the above complies If you have a reg.no. that is less than 7 digits it can make a lot of difference to the above but still be 100% legal i.e.cherrished plate |

9' x 6' 1/2 slightly shorter looks better than tiny plates (they just dont look right to me) 8' x 6' i would go for |
